Burmese is the majority language of Burma (renamed into 'Myanmar' by the military regime). The translator, Khin Lay Myint (1939-2007) was the daughter of the well-known writer and journalist Ganeigyaw U Chit Maung and Ganeigyaw Ma Ma Lay. She was also Professor of French language at Alliance Francaise in Yangon. |
